This car was part of the last generation of group-C cars. Their rule changes to use more F1 tech killed C. I also turned eighteen and had to grow up a bit. This was the end of the line for my childhood race cars.

GTP/Group C is the best. Damn everyone that killed it.
The only good thing to come out of it was the 333SP in the new WSC, but that’s not good enough!

Group C was cool and all, but really, though, as far as best race cars ever go, nothing will ever top Can-Am, which was as close to a true formula libre series as we’ll ever get. The only restrictions were the car must have two seats and the wheels must be enclosed in the bodywork. That’s it. It gave us the Chapparal fan cars and 1800 horsepower Porsches and all kinds of wonderful madness before the ever-rising cost to keep up with the madness killed it for good.
Just imagine if such a thing were to happen today. I mean, we could have shit like the Red Bull X2010, which they designed for Gran Turismo when asked what a car built to a true formula libre spec these days would be.

Ah the lovely Jaguar XJR-14, which later evolved into the Mazda MXR-01 and the TWR Porsche WSC-95

Oh man...the Miami Vice IMSA episode was just on. Totally forgot about that one. March-Buick GTP (with totally wrong engine noise) car chase on the street!
